On Tuesday, former New York City Mayor and Trump legal aid Rudy Giuliani admitted to making false statements about two Georgia poll workers.

Following the 2020 election, security camera footage of Ruby Freeman and Wandrea Moss circulated, allegedly showing the two passing a metallic object back and forth. Giuliani had commented that the two were passing around USB drives “like vials of heroin or cocaine” and alleged that the two were likely involved in election fraud.

Freeman and Moss later claimed they were not involved in fraud, and that they were passing around wrapped mints.

The two later sued Giuliani as well as conservative news station One America News Network for defamation. While Giuliani admitted his comments were without a factual basis, he claimed that they were protected under the first amendment.

Georgia’s State Election Board investigated, concluding that claims of fraud were “found to have no merit”.
