An American nurse working for a faith-based nonprofit in Haiti has, along with her child, been kidnapped.
The Christian group El Roi said that Alix Dorsainvil was kidnapped Thursday morning in Port-au-Prince. Alix is married to the group’s founder and director Sandro Dorsainvil.
The organization said she was taken “while serving in our community ministry.” That same day, the U.S. State Department ordered nonemergency government employees and families to leave Haiti “due to kidnapping, crime, civil unrest, and poor health care infrastructure.”
The White House has confirmed that it is aware of the kidnapping and is in regular contact with Haitian officials.
