Persecution is growing in East Africa after a report that police raided a group of Christian college students.
Eritrean police arrested 103 Christians in early April near the capital of Asmara. The group was primarily young adults who are college students. The Christians are now locked in the Mai Serwa prison, which is notorious for its inhumane conditions and abuse.
Eritrea is the worst violator of religious freedom in Africa. The East African dictatorship started state persecution against evangelical and Pentecostal Christians more than 20 years ago. In fact, the European Union sanctioned the country in 2021 for its serious human rights violations.
But Release International, who assists persecuted Christians, says there are now over 500 Christian prisoners in the country who are waiting indefinitely for a trial.
Please pray for these Christians and other Eritrean prisoners of conscience who are suffering for their faith.
