“I never thought that the shirt I wore to school … would lead me to speak with you today,” said courageous 12-year-old Liam Morrison, who thanked the committee for allowing him to speak.

“We want them to act as fiduciaries. We do not want them engaged on these ideological joyrides,” said DeSantis just before he signed the bill at a webcast event.

“The governor’s office directs the National Guard to respond — when and where,” a National Guard spokesman said. “That’s how any state will tell you it goes.”

“While crime is spiraling out of control in many other parts of the country, Florida is enacting policies that are tough on crime and as a result, Florida is at a 50-year crime low,” Gov. DeSantis said. 

“There is overwhelming bipartisan recognition that our current permitting processes aren’t working, and equally bipartisan support for addressing it through comprehensive permitting reform legislation,” Manchin, a conservative Democrat from coal- and gas-rich West Virginia, said in a release.

“I left so that I could talk about the dangers of AI without considering how this impacts Google,” Geoffrey Hinton wrote on Twitter.

“I think people can make it on $999 million. I think that they can survive just fine,” Sanders said.
