A new study confirms that God’s word really does leave its readers more hopeful.
The State of the Bible focused on the interplay between Bible reading and hope for their first 2023 report. Respondents had an average score of 3.8 out of 5 on what they termed the Persevering Hope scale.
Meanwhile, those who consistently engaged with Scripture scored 4.1 out of 5. Those who were disengaged from God’s word had the least hopeful outlook, measuring at 3.7.
Now, this first report did also warn that the number of Bible users has dropped to 39%. This is the lowest the American Bible Society has recorded since it first began annual reports in 2011.
