A Nebraska church is showing the love of Christ to its community by paying medical bills for over 500 households.
In March of last year, First-Plymouth Congregational Church of Lincoln, Nebraska started fundraising to specifically meet this need. It lasted about 14 months, culminating on Easter Sunday of this year.
At the time, Church leadership expected to raise only about $8,000 dollars. But the church went above and beyond as over 10,000 people donated over half a million dollars to pay these medical bills.
Senior Pastor Reverend Jim Keck talked about the fundraising effort during his sermon on Easter Sunday. He said the initiative “is like the Lord’s Prayer in action to forgive us our debts.”
