In the hostile region of Nigeria, some good news has come from a Catholic seminary that just witnessed the safe return of three kidnapped students.

FISM News previously reported the grave abduction of three Catholic seminary students from the Christ the King Major Seminary in Kaduna, Nigeria early last week. The students were kidnapped out of one of the campus chapels on Monday night around 7:30 local time during an attack by local criminals. Thankfully, all three students were released unharmed on Wednesday and returned to the seminary. Later reports revealed that six other students were injured in the attack but are recovering.

Fr. Emmanuel Okolo, chancellor of the Diocese of Kafanchan, made the announcement on Wednesday,

Barely 48 hours after their kidnap, our beloved brothers were released by their abductors.

The three men were celebrated and honored by faculty and fellow students who had prayed for their safe release:

Fr. Emmanuel Fewah Kazah told the Aid to the Church International organization that this hardship will only encourage the seminary’s students and clerics proclaim the gospel with more boldness. He said,

We were beaten but we won’t stay down. We won’t allow ourselves to be cowed by threats emanating from men and women of the underworld. We will courageously carry the torch of the Gospel to the ends of the earth notwithstanding the barrage of attacks on the Christian Faith!
