The Coast Guard has reportedly instructed religious chaplains to pressure military personnel into getting the vaccine when they apply for a religious exemptions, even attempting to use the words of scripture to do so.

According to documents obtained by Just the News, Coast Guard chaplains are to use a list of pre-planned questions to determine whether the applicant’s exemption request is “legitimate” and sway them towards vaccination. The document shows that chaplains are required to pressure, push, and even guilt applicants to get the shot.

Some reports have indicated that Christian chaplains were also told to be ready with a specific responses to applicants who would cite 1 Corinthians 6 as a reason to deny the shot. The Apostle Paul says in verses 19 and 20,

Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.

If the applicant cites this verse, chaplains were reportedly told to see if the service member has a tattoo, and if so, to turn the verse back on them for not “honoring their body.”

A Harvard Law School professor, Dr. Hoah Feldman, summarized the rights of these individuals who should be allowed the freedom to make this decision without pressure. He said recently,

People who decide first that they don’t want to be vaccinated, and then search online for religious authorities who might back them up …  are doing what many before them have done — and exactly what religious liberty is supposed to protect.
